KUALA LUMPUR: An employee recently received an unexpected sum of RM9,142.95 in the bank account, significantly more than the usual salary of RM1,942.95 that was expected.
However, instead of keeping the windfall, the employee took immediate action by alerting the employer.
This was shared by the employer, Dr Zul Ariffin Maarof, on Threads.
"When you have an honest staff member who immediately calls to inform you about a mistake in the salary transfer. Alhamdulillah, such a big difference when a payment is wrong. Praying that all my team members will have their skills, salaries and commissions increased in 2025. Amin," he wrote, accompanied by a screenshot of the conversation with the staff via WhatsApp.
In the message, the employee informed him that the amount was incorrect and asked for his account number so that the 'extra' could be transferred back.
In the comment section, Threads users praised the employee for their honesty.
User @pcpeh wrote, "Such a gem! Give him/her a bonus! I'm sure you're a good person too for having such a great team."
User @ryu_deano said, "Dr, please consider giving a reward to the employee. At least an extra RM100 is fine because of the staff's honesty. The staff deserves it. May Allah bless you and your family with abundant sustenance."
User @srhzad wrote, "Alhamdulillah, an honest staff member is a blessing. Give a little reward, a great start for the new year."
Zul Ariffin responded by saying, "Yes, I have given some reward."
