#NSTviral: Regardless of race or religion, badminton always brings Malaysians together [WATCH]

GOHTONG JAYA: The saying, sports brings us together, is most apt to describe a video showing a group of people cheering for our Malaysian badminton doubles team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

The short video is believed to have been recorded last night in Genting Highlands, showing Malaysians unanimously cheering and supporting Malaysian athletes Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei who were playing against China's Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping. 

Regardless of race or religion, people from all walks of life were seen gathered in front of the television screen to show their support for our national team.

They were heard shouting and cheering each time the Malaysian pair scored a point.

The crowd cheering the players came from all walks of life, and were all unanimously rooting for Malaysia to win and qualify for the quarter-final.

"Don't argue about race and religion when we are sitting under the same roof. Good luck to Malaysian athletes. Let's go for gold! ( Jangan pertikai Bangsa dan agama mu sahabat bila Kita dah duduk dibawah Satu bumbung" was also written in the video post. 

This video posted on by a Tik toker called  'heyyyyooooooo' has been making its rounds since earlier today.

The video has also received over 100 comments and more than 7,000 likes.

Among the comments were from iz93 who said this is the unity which we want to foster. 

Another user wati_rusli in her comment, pointed out the word 'Truly Malaysia' which was also captured in the video.. 

Tik toker _m.afqzdi said " See that? Only sports can unite us... So to the government, no need to give political talks and so on. Just focus on sports. Insyaallah it's will happen. ("Nampak tak? Hanya sukan saja yg boleh mnyatukan kita...Jadi kepada kerajaan, Takpayah la dok ceramah la,Apa la...Fokus kat sukan ja, Insyaallah jadi")

The Malaysian badminton doubles pair defeated the Chinese pair and have qualified for the quarterfinals in the Olympics.
