SERI ALAM: A six-second dashcam recording of two men forcefully loading a washing machine, still in its cardboard box, into the passenger seat of a Perodua Axia, led to an arrest on Saturday.
The footage, recorded at 1.30pm in front of an appliance store at Taman Desa Cemerlang, in Ulu Tiram here, revealed that the duo had stolen the washing machine.
The 33-year-old store owner lodged a police report following the theft.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said a 23-year-old suspect was arrested for the theft at a housing estate in Taman Desa Cemerlang at 11pm on the same day.
He had eight prior criminal records which included three drug-related offences.
Also seized were the washing machine and the Axia.
Investigations are underway to identify his accomplice.
