SINGAPORE: Singapore police are investigating the theft of five Labubu dolls, valued at S$300, reported stolen from a claw machine outside a pet shop in Yishun.
The Straits Times reported that CCTV footage captured three boys tampering with the claw machine early Monday morning.
Pet shop and claw machine owner Derrick He, 52, said he discovered the theft after noticing some Labubu dolls from "The Monsters Tasty Macarons Series" missing when he arrived for work.
Suspiciously, the wires above the machine were also dislodged.
CCTV footage showed the boys attempting to tilt the claw machine at around 6.30am after failing to win any dolls.
About 30 minutes later, the trio returned, tilting the machine again, with one boy trying to lift it while another reached into the prize dispenser.
Mr. He said he was shocked by the footage, adding that the machine had drawn twice its usual crowd after he stocked it with 11 Labubu dolls 10 days prior.
Despite the theft, he plans to leave the remaining dolls in the machine.
Labubu dolls, priced at S$24.90 on the official Pop Mart website, are sold out online in Singapore.
Resellers are charging up to S$65 each for the collectible, which gained global popularity after Blackpink's Lisa posted photos with one in April.
