#NSTviral: US-based Malaysian comedian jokes about coming back to Malaysia on 'The Daily Show'

KUALA LUMPUR: In a recent appearance on 'The Daily Show', United States-based Malaysian comedian and actor Ronnie Chieng left what he called 'inspiring' advice for any Americans unhappy with the political outcome of the recent election.

Cast member Desi Lydic had asked correspondents, including Chieng to give his advice on the matter.

Chieng reached into the inside pocket of his blazer, held up his Malaysian passport, and said: "Just look into your heart, and take out your foreign passport, and you go back to Malaysia where you came from"

Lydic however quickly pointed out the problem with Chieng's advice.

"Ronny, we don't all have Malaysian passports. How is that inspiring to us?" she asked.

To this, Chieng replied: "Oh, I don't know, it's inspiring to me. Alright, later!"

Netizens reacted positively to Ronny's "pearls of wisdom", with some expressing their intent to move out of the country as well.

User @lynnevanvorce7727 said: "I'm thinking of declaring political asylum in Canada.

Another said they hoped Chieng would stay on the show.

"Love you Ronny! Please don't leave! Though to be fair, I am considering roaming for the next four years.

"I renewed my passport in February, so it'll be very easy to peace out for a while," said @medusagorgon9.
