KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian comedian Ronny Chieng, known for his sharp wit, recently declared Malaysia the greatest Asian country during a debate with Hong Kong-American actor Jimmy O. Yang on Complex. The duo, co-stars in the comedy series Interior Chinatown, were tasked with naming the GOAT (greatest of all time) Asian country.
Yang, 37, hesitated before choosing Japan, citing its futuristic features, particularly the high-speed rail.
US-based Chieng, 39, groaned at the predictability of the choice, quipping that it's a country "any white person" would pick.
When his turn came, Chieng proudly referenced Malaysia's iconic "Malaysia Truly Asia" tourism jingle, declaring the nation as having "the best food in the world."
Yang teased Chieng, noting his Instagram often pokes fun at Malaysians and Singaporeans.
Chieng denied the claim, responding, "I never hate on Malaysians."
Yang joked, "Just Singaporeans?" to which Chieng replied, "And Australians."
This isn't the first time Chieng has ribbed Singapore.
In March, the Crazy Rich Asians star called Singaporeans "Karens with zero perspective on the world," referencing his schooling years in the island republic before studying in Australia.
