No need for Selangor Pas exco members to quit their posts, says Pas Youth chief

ALOR STAR: There's no reason why Pas executive council (exco) members in Selangor should resign from their respective positions.

This was the response by new Pas Youth Chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi to PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, who said all Selangor Pas exco members should resign from their respective posts if the Islamic party decides to end its political ties with PKR.

"It wasn't PKR who elected the Pas exco and besides, if we look at the facts, Pas has won more seats in Selangor compared to PKR.

"The Pas exco members in Selangor do not have to resign from their posts as they were not elected by either PKR or DAP," he told a press conference at Kompleks Pas Kedah in conjunction with Pas' 63rd Muktamar, here today.

Saifuddin, in a statement today, had also said that there was no logic in Pas continuing to serve in Selangor when it is not even part of the government.

Earlier today, Pas Youth had unanimously accepted the motion to end the party's "tahaluf siyasi", or political cooperation, with PKR without debating it.

The motion, which was moved by Terengganu Youth delegate Ramlan Mahmood, received undivided support from all delegates present.
