Parti Cinta Sabah opts out of United Sabah Alliance

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Cinta Sabah has decided to leave United Sabah Alliance (USA) as there is discord among state opposition parties within the coalition.

Its president Datuk Sri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing said the party’s supreme council members, in a meeting today, had unanimously decided the party to stand on its own.

He added the decision would allow the party to play a more important role to bring about change and facilitate unity among opposition parties in Sabah and outside.

Bumburung also added the disunity in the alliance could be seen with some parties only wanting to cooperate politically after the 14th general election.

The alliance which was formed in November, last year, is also participated by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah.

“Meanwhile, there are opposition parties outside of USA who are reluctant to sit down with parties leaders; and at the same time, there are leaders in USA who are reluctant to sit and talk to the other parties outside of USA.

“The KadazanDusun Murut communities throughout Sabah, who felt they are being sidelined and disunited in several political lineage, had also urged for a single unifying party of their own to unite the community,” he said, citing feedbacks received during the party’s series of roadshows, seminars and training session.
