SHAH ALAM: PKR Andalas assemblyman Dr Xavier Jayakumar denied there was corruption and abuse of power involved in sand mining activities in Selangor.
Dr Xavier said this in response to allegations made Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia founder Badrul Hisham Shaharin who submitted a 300-page report on the controversy to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
He also said Badrul, who is also known as Chegu Bard, should withdraw his allegation to avoid legal action.
“For now, let the MACC investigate his claims but if there is nothing to be prosecuted, I will not hesitate to sue him,” Dr Xavier said when contacted.
Badrul had claimed several PKR leaders had used unscrupulous means in the tender process carry out sand mining activities and that there were those who had attempted to cover up the truth.
The individuals include Dr Xavier, Sri Muda Assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei and Pelabuhan Klang state constituency coordinator Azmizam Zaman Huri.
Badrul claimed the three had abused their power and position in the Selangor government to collect more than RM500,000 as commission from sand mining activities.
Azmizam when contacted said he will be issuing a statement soon after discussing with his lawyer.
Efforts to contact Mat Shuhaimi for his comments failed.
