KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Titiwangsa Youth chief Datuk Nazir Hussin Aktar Hussin has denied rumours that he was the one who was trying to sabotage Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
He said he did not know how his name had been connected in social media to such allegations, considering that he had a good relationship with Johari.
Nazir said, as far as he was concerned, any candidate for the BN ticket to contest the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat should be supported, for the sake of the party.
He was commenting on rumours in social media that he was behind the hanging of buntings and banners in the Titiwangsa constituency which urged BN to not name Johari as its candidate for the parliamentary seat. Johari, who is second finance minister, is currently the Titiwangsa member of parliament.
Nazir told reporters he had nothing to do with any individual or group who had hung up the banners and buntings, nor did he have anything against Johari.
“I have nothing to hide. There have been many statements from certain quarters saying that I am the Umno insider who wants to contest the election... all sorts of things,” he said after a meeting with the Umno Titiwangsa Youth wing members.
Nazir said he had heard that the banners and buntings were the work of “a group of people” who were based in the Chow Kit area, which falls under the Titiwangsa constituency.
“I hear that this group is not happy with Datuk Jo, but I don’t know why. Besides, I don’t know these who these people are,” he said.
