PRM to contest 18 state and four parliamentary seats

BUTTERWORTH: Parti Rakyat Malaysia, synonymous with its ‘bull head’ logo, will contest in 18 state seats and four parliamentary seats in the 14th general election.

This was announced by party president Ariffin Salimon, who introduced the candidates to the media, in a ceremony held at a hotel here this morning.

This is one of the party’s major involvements in the general election in Penang since the 1960s.

PRM is also the first party to announce its candidates for the elections in the state.

State PRM chairman Tang Hiang Lye believes the party will make a breakthrough in Penang this time around.

“Many issues in the state are affecting the people and there seem to be no solution at sight."

Meanwhile, Ariffin said the party would contest in 20 parliamentary seats and 80 state seats in the coming elections in four states.

Besides Penang, the other states are Kedah, Selangor and Sabah.
