KOTA BARU: Pas President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang tonight questioned the truth behind Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s black eye incident which took place in 1998.
He claimed the incident which took place when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was then the Prime Minister was staged and equated the incident to acting in Tamil movies.
“Now they use the eye as a symbol (PKR’s Logo), blue black eye, red eye … the bruise from being punched
“Suddenly, the one who was punched and the one who did it have united … did the punch really take place or was it merely a bluff.
“Just like in a Tamil movie, one punch, (the victim) falls and goes rolling on the ground after being struck. Those watching are crying, when in fact there was nothing, merely an act ,” he said.
Hadi said this in his speech at the unveiling of Pas candidates for the 14th General Election, here tonight at Dataran Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV.
