KUALA KANGSAR: The 14th General Election results have shown that people of Perak are demanding for an effective, transparent and honest government said newly appointed Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Ahmad Faizal, who is the Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, told the press this after his swearing in ceremony at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar, that this is what the nation wants after the election and PH will deliver.
“The Perak Pakatan Harapan government will work closely with the Federal government on all relevant matters whilst upholding the interests of the state.
“We as their elected representatives must deliver, and I, as the Menteri Besar will ensure that this administration will deliver on its pledges.
“We would also like to apologise to the people of Perak for the delay in forming the state government as a smooth transition of power was of paramount importance,” he said.
Ahmad Faizal also expressed his gratitude to the people of Perak for choosing Pakatan Harapan as their representative.
Earlier, Ahmad Faizal was sworn in as the Perak Menteri Besar in front of Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah.
The 48-year-old, who is also the Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, previously served as the special officer for the Kedah Menteri Besar.
The PH Chenderiang assemblyman pursued his studies at Cowan University Edith, Perth, Australia. He received his secondary education at SMK Anderson in Ipoh.
Ahmad Faizal won the Tambun parliamentary seat with a majority of 5,320 in a three-cornered fight.
PH managed to secure 29 out of the 59 state seats as BN won 27 and Pas took three.
