Don't threaten government servants who don't support Pakatan Harapan

The government must not threaten civil servants who don't support Pakatan Harapan (PH) as by doing so, it is showing its dictatorial side.

Umno Strategic Communication Unit has accused the PH-led government under Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as well as other ministers of threatening government staff in a variety of ways and this is in contradiction to what the people was hoping for in a clean government.

In a statement today, it claimed that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail had reminded government servants nationwide to support PH or action will be taken against them which includes being fired.

It also claimed that Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as threatening heads and officers of government agencies suspected of wrong doing to resign or be fired.

It said this has never happened during Barisan Nasional’s time in power as it respects the freedom of government staff to freely choose which party to support as long as they do their work in serving the people.

“Is this the form of democracy and individual rights that PH has been talking about all this while? Will they require those who apply for government jobs to be investigated of their political background before they are accepted for work?” the statement said.

It also claimed that thousands has been laid off after the recent general election and wondered if those are Umno supporters or from other opposition parties as well.

“Umno is nervously looking at this development. Malaysians working for the government does not have any choice but to be PH members so that they can earn a living.

“Those interested in joining the public sector will be politically filtered before being accepted. This is worse than a socialist system,” it said.

In the statement, Umno wonders if Azmin Ali will continue to threaten public servants to resign in huge numbers just because they are suspected of wrong doings? It seems they are given two choices, support PH or resign.

“Is this the subtle way for Dr Mahathir to trim down the government servants and save cost or is this a scare tactic to scare the people, especially those who voted for BN?

“In the next five years in power, will PH focus on finding past faults, passing judgement and creating a political barrier for public servants?

“It is disappointing. It is already happening and the people need to be aware from now on. The true nature of PH can be seen so clearly now." said the statement.
