Rafizi helped 'slay Goliath' in GE14

SHAH ALAM: Mohd Rafizi Ramli played a major role in ensuring Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) victory in the 14th General Election (GE14), said PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

In his speech during PKR’s 13th Annual Congress today, Saifuddin credited Rafizi and Invoke Malaysia for their efforts during the GE14 campaigning period.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rafizi and his team at Invoke Malaysia for being the game changer.

“Invoke Malaysia harnessed the spirit of volunteerism amongst the rakyat and helped the party to campaign in a smarter way by targeting marginal seats with the help of data analytics.

“Thank you Rafizi and team. Due to your contributions, we have indeed slain Goliath,” said Saifuddin.

Saifuddin added that Rafizi’s way of campaigning was perfectly summed up by an article published by the Wall Street Journal on May 7 this year that headlined “Malaysia Elections: Opposition Seeks To Slay Goliath With Smarter Campaigning.”

The two-day congress, which was launched by outgoing party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, is attended by over 2,000 delegates from all over the country.

Among those present are incoming party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, incumbent deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu.

In the GE14, the PH coalition, comprising Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara, won 113 seats parliamentary seats defeating Barisan Nasional (BN) which managed to secure 79 seats.

The May 9 polls marked the first time BN has been defeated since 1955.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin said he hoped the congress this year will continue to serve its purpose as a powerful platform to debate policies that will shape the future of the nation.

“I am confident that the delegates will speak straight from their hearts and express what they feel is the best for the country and the party’s future.

“Let us not forget the very reason why the rakyat elected us – which is to serve the rakyat and to deliver a brighter future for Malaysia,” he said.
