Nik Abduh's speech was taken out of context, says Pas sec-gen

KOTA BHARU: The audio recording on the alleged millions of ringgit received from Umno is acknowledged to be that of Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the true context of the speech by the Central PAS Committee Member, however, was not as how it had been sensationalised by certain parties.

He said one should have scrutinised the whole of Nik Abduh’s speech to be able to understand its true intention, instead of taking only certain parts of it.

“Nik Abduh has admitted that it was his voice and audio (of him), but this leaves much room to be explored.

“The context of Pas receiving money from UMNO has other interpretations.

“When we listen to the recording, we have to listen to the entire content to understand what he meant, not a portion of it half because that’s when things can go wrong.

"For example, when Nik Abduh said that (the late) Nik Abdul Aziz (Nik Mat) had also received money from Umno, what he meant was not Umno money directly, but the money donated by Umno especially at Maahad Darul Anuar school,” he said when met after officiating Al Khatiri Kofee in Kubang Kerian here, today.

Mohd Amar said there were people who held on to Umno’s ideologies, but when Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) wanted to build a school, they wanted to contribute.

Nik Abduh has been associated with an audio recording alleging that Pas had received receiving millions of ringgit from Umno, an allegation that he had denied and rubbished it as slander.

Commenting further, Takiyuddin said PAS had conducted an investigation to scrutinised what really happened, including the entire speech made by Nik Abduh.
