SEMENYIH: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claims Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang paid Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown RM1.4 million to end their legal suit.
Anwar who spoke before a ceramah crowd here, also claimed that he has evidence regarding the matter in the form of a bank statement.
Rewcastle-Brown and Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was locked in a legal suit after the former alleged that the Islamic party had received RM90 million from Umno in exchange for political endorsement.
"I am Anwar Ibrahim. I would not speak without facts. And I have facts, that Pas's Haji Hadi paid (RM) 1.4 million to Clare.
"If Pas wants to contest this (my statement), they can do so in court. I have the evidence.
"I can show the bank statement. Which bank? I will not reveal it now."
Pas yesterday denied that it had paid Rewcastle-Brown costs or any amount of compensation to end proceedings to the legal suit early this month.
Last week, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed that there were no trace of RM90 million deposited into Pas's official accounts from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
