IPOH: Perak DAP vice-chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari today denied allegation of an ongoing attempt to oust Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu from office.
Describing it as baseless, he said the rumour was being spread by state opposition leaders to disrupt relationship within the state Pakatan Harapan.
“I wonder since when did the opposition leader, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, been appointed as spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Department?"
"He claimed that a certain state executive councillor has been going around using the PM’s name trying to oust the MB, but this has been denied by the PM himself recently.
“So, I don’t see any merit in this allegation. This is his routine as the opposition leader, so I don’t take it seriously,” he said, after opening a career fair at the Politeknik Ungku Omar, here, today.
The Tebing Tinggi assemblyman, who is also state Education, Technology, Science and Environmental exco, pointed out that it was not easy to form the government.
“As I said before, it is not that easy. I don’t understand it because they used to be in the government…Maybe that was how they do things...but at the moment, as we are a concerned, we have rules, procedures and standard practices to adhere to.
It is not that easy to topple a government,” he said.
Last week, Saarani claimed that a state executive councillor, who had previously met with six Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen to convince them to join the move to oust Ahmad Faizal, had met more BN representatives recently.
He had also claimed that the move had received the blessing of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
On Saturday, Dr Mahathir denied such claim and said that he was satisfied with Ahmad Faizal’s performance.
