KUALA LUMPUR: Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has warned against trusting the “DAP race”, claiming the party knows no loyalty.
Denying that the upcoming Umno-Pas alliance as racist, Tuan Ibrahim instead labelled DAP as racist and untrustworthy.
“Our alliance does not sideline the non-Muslims because we accept everyone’s rights in this multiracial country.
“What we cannot accept is the threat by DAP because this DAP race will leave their friends behind when facing a critical situation.
“This is a party that we cannot be friends with in politics, as time and time again we have seen them abandoning their allies when it doesn’t favour them,” he said in his speech during the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah at Putra World Trade Centre here today.
The event is a precursor to tomorrow’s signing of a political charter between Umno and Pas, which is expected to consolidate support from pockets of Malay hardliners ahead of the 15th general election.
Tuan Ibrahim further claimed that the reason Pakatan Harapan labelled the cooperation as racist was because the government felt threatened by it.
“Some say the Pas-Umno alliance will not last long but I say, it will last forever as long as it is being treated with care and honesty.
“A government that wins (the election) by employing slander will not last long.
“There is no other party in this country besides Pas and Umno that has such a strong grassroot support,” he said.
