KUALA PILAH: Kuala Pilah member of parliament Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith has expressed his interest to contest a seat for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) Supreme Leadership Council.
Eddin, who is also Negri Sembilan Bersatu deputy chairman, said the party's first general meeting in June would be a testament to the open concept of democracy.
"I will consider the position to be contested in the Supreme Leadership Council.
"After all, there are no restrictions for those who are interested to contest, only several conditions imposed which are seen as an effort to maintain good relationship among members," he said.
Eddin said this at a press conference after delivering Chinese New Year contributions organised by the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Silaturahim Isteri Isteri Harapan Malaysia (KASIH Malaysia) here today.
At the ceremony Eddin, who is also deputy minister of Communications and Multimedia, and wife who is KASIH Malaysia committee member, delivered financial aid, rice and mandarin oranges to some 50 senior citizens from the Kuala Pilah parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration.
Earlier in his speech, Eddin said diversity in the country was a blessing and needed to be enjoyed and celebrated so that the entire community could live together without prejudice.
"Thus every festival is recognised as a national celebration and should be celebrated together.
"KASIH has a clear role to play in this. Chinese New Year is a platform to help the underpriviliged celebrate the festive occasion together," he said.
