KOTA BARU: Kelantan Umno is planning to hold a meeting with Pas and Bersatu to discuss their next move following the formation of the Perikatan Nasional pact.
State Umno liaison chief Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said that the meeting with the two parties in the new coalition will be held as soon as possible.
"It is important for us in the state to meet to discuss our role in helping the rakyat, following the changes in the country's administration.
"We will work closely with each other for the people's wellbeing, as there is no more opposition representative in the state assembly sitting," he said.
The Machang Member of Parliament said he had once set an appointment to meet Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob to discuss the issue.
"But at that time, the appointment had to be cancelled due to the recent political crisis. Hopefully, we shall set a new date soon," he said.
Ahmad Jazlan said Kelantan people are lucky that the state government will now be included in the federal administration for the second time in almost 30 years.
"The rakyat should be happy, as their lives might soon change with the coming increase in development projects in the state," he said.
The state has 45 seats, 38 belonging to Pas, six to Barisan Nasional and one to Bersatu.
The Pas-led government has ruled Kelantan for almost 30 years since 1990.
