'Perak's political crisis will not affect Penang PN'

GEORGE TOWN: Perak's political crisis will not affect the relationship between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Penang.

Although the situation has "offended" several quarters within PN, state

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman Datuk Shabudin Yahaya said all PN component parties still support PN policies.

In fact, Shabudin, who is Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament, expressed confidence that the political situation in Perak would return to normal in a week or two.

"I do not foresee a misunderstanding between PN and BN following what happened in Perak. We are still cooperating.

"I am also certain that what happened will be resolved by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, and everything will return to normal," he said today.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department was responding to the ongoing political crisis in Perak after Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is also Bersatu deputy president, failed to secure a simple majority in a motion of confidence brought up in the 14th state legislative assembly sitting, yesterday.

Meanwhile, on the distribution of seats between PN parties in the state in the 15th general election (GE15), Shabudin said the matter has yet to be discussed.

He added that the issue of seat distribution is still too early to be discussed.

"At this point in time, all PN component parties have their own planning and direction.

"When the time comes, we will discuss it together at a joint meeting at the leadership level," he added.

Earlier, Shabudin presented monetary aid to hawkers at the Mutiara Selera food complex in Tanjung Bungah here, after the building was gutted in a fire last month.
