KUALA LUMPUR: Pas' faith in the foundation of the Muafakat Nasional charter has never wavered, despite being disappointed with Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party was dismayed that Zahid had instructed Umno members of Parliament to withdraw their support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Zahid's action, he said, was not in line with the spirit of unity of the ummah as espoused by the Muafakat Nasional charter.
"This (Zahid's action) will also affect plans outlined under the National Recovery Plan in the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 and assist people affected by the pandemic-induced crisis," he said in a statement.
Pas, however, still believed in the foundation of Muafakat Nasional that aimed at unifying the ummah as well as strengthening Islamic Malay politics for the sake of political stability, racial harmony and the nation's well-being, Tuan Ibrahim added.
