KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno says it will remain with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
This is despite Umno's decision to sever ties with Perikatan Nasional, which also a component member of GRS. Other members are Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah.
"Whatever decisions and resolutions made by the party's top leadership will always be respected and acknowledged Sabah Umno and adapted to its autonomous power.
"The mandate given by the people to Sabah Umno in the last state election will be respected and strengthened.
"Therefore, Sabah Umno stands to remain in support of GRS under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor," the statement read.
It also said Sabah Umno was hoping that its stand would be respected by all parties for the stability, harmony and prosperity of the people and the state of Sabah.
The statement also explained that Sabah Umno upholds the advice by Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the Head of State for all parties to respect the rule of law.
It also said according to the Clause 3 of the Umno Constitution, the leadership and Sabah Umno members should show full loyalty to the rulers and support the Federal Constitution and State Constitutions.
"Sabah Umno prays for the political crisis in the peninsula can be resolved in a prudent, harmonious and wise manner for the benefit of the country and the people."
