GE15: Wan Azizah leaves Pandan for Bandar Tun Razak

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will field former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in the Bandar Tun Razak constituency for the 15th General Election (GE15).

A source told the New Straits Times that Dr Wan Azizahs name was on the list to contest for the said seat previously held by Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar, a former PKR man who quit and joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Her name is there (in the list) and the only name (for the constituency), the source said.

The source added that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was initially set to contest in the Bandar Tun Razak seat.

Bandar Tun Razak was one of the places that opened its door for Anwar.

However, he made the decision last week to go to Tambun instead, the source added.

Earlier this month, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he would stand again in his former seat, Pandan, which he held from 2013 to 2018.

In the 14th General Election, Kamarudin secured 41,126 votes in a three-cornered fight.

He defeated Barisan Nasionals Adnan Seman who had 21,196 votes and Pas Dr Rosni Adam, who received 7,884.

The late former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim won the seat in the 12th and 13th General Elections.
