BENTONG: Former Kampar member of parliament Thomas Su Keong Siong is DAP's pick to contest the Ketari state seat to replace Young Syefura Othman, who has been "promoted" to contest the Bentong parliament seat.
DAP deputy secretary-general and former Raub member of parliament Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji will be fielded by DAP in both the Lipis parliamentary and Tras state seats.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the party, contesting in eight state seats in Pahang, will introduce three new faces including Su, who is a DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) member.
"Two young faces picked by DAP are Ho Chi Yang in Tanah Rata (Cameron Highlands) and Muhammad Khairil Khalid in Pulau Manis (Pekan). We have retained four incumbents, namely Leong Yu Mun in Triang, Woo Chee Wan (Mentakab) D. Kamache (Sabai) and Lee Chin Chen (Bilut).
"Tengku Zulpuri will contest in both the Tras state seat and Lipis parliament seat while former Tras assemblyman Chow Yu Hui will contest in the Raub parliamentary seat and Chiong Yoke Kong, who previously served Tanah Rata, will be fielded in Cameron Highlands," he said during the party's candidate announcement ceremony here today.
Meanwhile, Loke who also launched the Pahang DAP election machinery, said the party is looking to make inroads into Barisan Nasional held constituencies in GE15.
"We have named Tengku Zulpuri to contest in Lipis which is widely known as an Umno stronghold. Tonight marks the beginning of our battle to wrest more seats in Pahang in the upcoming general election and I hope that our supporters will work hard to ensure victory," he said.
