GE15: Khairy accepts criticism from woman in viral video

SUNGAI BULOH: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat Khairy Jamaluddin took it in his stride when he was schooled by a disgruntled woman during a walkabout in the community.

After a town hall with prospective university students at Universiti Teknologi Mara's Puncak Alam campus today, Khairy assured the press that it was all good.

In a video that has gone viral, a woman whose shop has a damaged roof asked Khairy what help he could offer her immediately.

Today, Khairy said fixing the shop's roof would not be an issue after polling day, but he had to decline her request to "give her something now" as that would be an election offence.

He said he had tried to explain the reason to the woman and promised her that they could discuss the matter after polling day, but she was unsatisfied.

The woman also questioned what Khairy had done during his tenure in the cabinet.

Khairy brushed the incident off.

"I have no problem with what happened. We meet voters during walkabouts. There is no censorship.

"We meet all levels of society and not all will support us. Some are not satisfied. They are free to say anything.

"I tried to explain to the woman that it would be a mistake to give her anything now. She got angry, but that's okay. That's her right.

"As a candidate, we have to accept any point of view. But we have to explain that if something is to be given during campaigning, it would be an offence."

With two days left until polling day, Khairy said support for him was increasingly positive.

"I will continue to campaign today and tomorrow and visit places that I have yet to visit.

"I will leave it to Sungai Buloh constituents. God willing, they will make the best decision."
