KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes to have his full new cabinet lineup ready within the next few days.
At the Reformists Dinner, he said he was in the midst of finalising the lineup before presenting it to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
"The cabinet appointment process is taking some time because there were several matters which we needed to iron out with our component parties.
"We also want to expedite the lineup announcement so that we can present it to the Agong for his consent, but this is taking a bit of time.
"Hopefully within the next two or three days we will be able to announce the list," he said in his speech at the dinner, a video clip of which he posted on his Facebook page.
Anwar said he is in the final phases of putting his Cabinet together and has some fine tuning to do before announcing it.
Earlier Anwar had promised to announce a much leaner Cabinet lineup for his government, which consists of MPs from Barisan Nasional and his coalition, Pakatan Harapan.
Putting the long time political rivalry aside, Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, on the advice of the Agong, agreed to form a unity government in Malaysia.
