KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his endorsement to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
"Yes, I am giving him (the) blessing. He is the Chief Minister," he said when asked whether he is giving his blessing to Hajiji's administration.
Anwar was speaking to reporters after an hour-long meeting with the Sabah assemblymen who supported Hajiji at Sri Gaya here.
Present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Hajiji and other assemblymen.
"I would like to thank the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji and others for being together to listen to all opinions and (for the presence of) Deputy Prime Minister Zahid.
"We want a strong Sabah government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji.
"Tomorrow, there will be an important law (two Bills) to return Sabah rights (through the state assembly sitting).
"This is a big change, for me this is the priority, give the opportunity for the Chief Minister to discuss and find the best formula for a better Sabah," he said, referring to the political situation in Sabah.
Earlier Anwar had a meeting with Zahid after he arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport from Jakarta at 9.40pm.
The political crisis was triggered when Bung Moktar withdrew Sabah Umno's support for the state government led by Hajiji.
Not all Sabah Umno leaders were for the withdrawal, however, with five assemblymen later pledging support for Hajiji.
