KUALA LUMPUR: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook today said he had never dreamt of delivering a speech at Umno's headquarters at the Unity Government Convention.
"I am nervous and I am sure my fellow DAP members, including the vice-chairman Gobind Singh Deo had similar sentiments," he said in his speech at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre, today.
Loke also joked that unlike Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who returned to old territory, the experience was new and felt foreign to him.
"Never in my wildest dream that I would give a speech at this stage.
"Unlike Anwar who has many experiences and returned to the building after many years, this is the first (experience) for me," he joked.
He added that the convention held today marked a new history in the country's political landscape as it gathered four political coalitions in the government.
He also said all 19 component parties from the four coalitions represented each race, ethnicity, religion and minority in Malaysia.
"What is more important is that all coalitions represent each region in Malaysia, be it from the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.
"The convention today also gives a big meaning for a brighter Malaysia. With one vision, this will bring Malaysia to a prosperous and successful future."
