KUALA LUMPUR: Former Damansara member of parliament Tony Pua may have subtlely taken a swipe at former Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu who recently announced he was quitting DAP.
At the Petaling Jaya DAP fund raising dinner today, Pua stressed that he would remain loyal towards the party and that he did not believed in "non-partisan" politics".
"When I was preparing to come to this dinner tonight, I proudly put on t-shirt with a DAP logo emblazoned on it.
"I will be in this party… I will not leave this party. I don't believe in a non-partisan support or politics. I believe that the people of this country need to make a choice… They need to make a stand and fight for the betterment of Malaysia," he said.
Although Pua did not mentioned any names or reference to any former or existing party leaders, it was understood that he was referring to Liu.
Liu recently announced that he was quitting the party after 41 years.
He was quoted by an online news portal as saying that he did not want to be involved in "partisan politics" anymore as his reason for leaving the party.
Liu, however, insisted that he would remain an ally of Pakatan Harapan and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
