NIBONG TEBAL: The unity pact will announce its candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election on Wednesday.
This was confirmed by PKR vice-president and election director Rafizi Ramli at the launch of the unity pact election machinery last night.
Speaking to newsmen after the launch, Rafizi said the list of candidates was now in the hands of PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said it had been vetted by the state leadership council.
"Next, we will present the names that PKR had chosen to the unity government council at the national level to get our partners' approval.
"The unity government council will meet on Tuesday before the announcement on Wednesday," he said.
Earlier, Rafizi said there was an overwhelming attendance for last night's event despite the short notice given.
"If this is the case, I am sure that we can wrestle back the seat in the coming by-election," he said.
Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and leaders from the unity pact partners.
The Election Commission (EC) fixed July 6 for the Sungai Bakap by-election following the death of its assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.
