NIBONG TEBAL: There is no reason for Sungai Bakap voters to reject Pakatan Harapan's Dr Joohari Ariffin, who had unveiled a comprehensive manifesto, for the July 6 by-election.
PKR Wanita chief Fadhlina Sidek said Joohari's commitment to serving the people if he wins in the by-election had been clearly spelt out.
"I see his offer is so comprehensive and his commitment is so clear. There is no reason why the people should reject him, especially with his long-standing expertise in education and administrative experience, which will bring prosperity to Sungai Bakap," she told newsmen here today.
Fadhlina was met while helping to campaign for Joohari in Taman Puteri Gunung here this evening.
Upgraded infrastructure, free tuition, eliminating poverty and a resolution to citizenship issues in Sungai Bakap were among Joohari's manifesto promises for the state seat by-election.
Underpinning his "perPADUan" (unity) manifesto unveiled last night was the promise of fairness to constituents.
The manifesto comprised four pillars.
Fadhlina, who is also Nibong Tebal member of parliament, said Joohari's focus was not only on academic matters but also on the overall development in Sungai Bakap.
She said there were physical developments proposed through infrastructure and also development issues in the area.
"Second is academics and character, and this is his niche or expertise as a former educator.
"Then, there is also peace... I remember this. We are also ensuring that the entire campaign is focused on peaceful efforts without any culture of slander or criticism of each other, and this candidate has clearly delivered a message.
"And of course, his experience in the field of education has led him to a commitment and offer that encompasses everyone through his Padu message," she added.
Joohari is engaged in a straight fight with Perikatan Nasional's Abidin Ismail for the Sungai Bakap by-election.
Polling has been fixed for July 6.
