GUA MUSANG: Twelve Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) branches in the Nenggiri state seat were dissolved today and all its 480 members have joined Umno.
The group is led by former Gua Musang Bersatu division deputy chief Che Ariffin Husain.
They handed over their membership forms to join Umno to Kelantan Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub in a simple ceremony in Kampung Jerek here.
It was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Che Ariffin said the Bersatu members decided to quit the party and joined Umno because they have lost faith in Bersatu and its leaders.
"Even the former Nenggiri assemblyman ( Mohd Azizi Abu Naim) who contested the seat under the Pas-Bersatu ticket did not bother about us.
"We voted for him, but he did not look after our welfare," he added.
The 12 Bersatu branches involved in the exodus included those in Kampung Perasu, Kampung Sungai Asap, Kampung Star and Kampung Limau Kasturi.
