GUA MUSANG: Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Nenggiri by-election has dismissed claims suggesting that he had resigned from the navy after he was found to have committed an offence.
Mohd Rizwadi Ismail, 41, said he quit the navy voluntarily after more than 13 years in service.
Speaking at a ceramah in Serian here last night, Rizwadi, who joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia two days before he was announced as PN candidate in the Aug 17 by-election, said he joined the navy after his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination in 2003.
"Throughout my years in services, l have been posting in various places including Perak and Pahang.
"When l was in Pahang, l decided to quit early not because l have committed any offences while in navy as claims by certain quarters," he added.
Rizwadi said his service with the navy officer officially ended in January 2015.
"In social media recently including in TikTok, many people said that l have resigned for breaching the regulation while in the service.
"This is baseless.
"I do not mind what they said. They will get the punishment from Allah for making a false accusation," he added.
Rizwadi said he has been involved in community works after returning to his hometown in Bertam Lama.
"Praise be to God. I was given a chance by the party to contest in Nenggiri by-election.
"I will use this opportunity to meet the voters. My routine daily activities now start after Suboh prayer and will end at midnight," he added.
The Aug 17 Nenggiri by-election is seeing a straight fight between Rizwadi and Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri
