Nenggiri polls: 'BN candidate will be one-term rep if he fails the people'

GUA MUSANG: Barisan Nasional's candidate for the Nenggiri by-election will be a one-term assemblyman if he fails to fulfill his promises to the people.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was confident Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani could fulfill his responsibilities to the people if he won the state seat.

"If he fails, as BN chairman, I make sure he will be a one-term assemblyman.

"I will hold BN's Nenggiri by-election director Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub and deputy director Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim responsible if Azmawi fails the people."

Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister and rural and regional development minister, said this in his speech at a gathering with community leaders and Felda settlers in Perasu today.

He said he was confident Azmawi, a young candidate, would beat his opponents.

On another note, Zahid reminded Felda settlers not to be easily influenced by outsiders who like to give empty promises.

"Only the federal government can take care of Felda settlers. Outsiders can only make promises during elections.

"If outsiders try to cause trouble in Felda, I hope settlers here will reject them. Otherwise, settlers will become victims."

"InsyaAllah, I will help Felda settlers. I promise to always make Felda my priority."
