GUA MUSANG: Allowing other parties under Perikatan Nasional (PN) to use Pas' logo when contesting in elections is not something new, said Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
He said this was not an issue and had been done in many by-elections including in Kelantan and Terengganu.
"As an example, in the state election years ago, a PKR candidate contesting in the Machang parliamentary seat used the Pas logo.
"The move is not new. We have agreed to use Pas logo for the candidates who are contesting under PN, particularly in Kelantan and Terengganu," he said in a ceramah at Sungai Terah here, last night.
He was responding to a statement by Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders that PN had cheated Nenggiri voters by fielding a Pas candidate during the recent nomination day, instead of a Bersatu candidate as previously announced.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Kubang Kerian member of Parliament (MP), said the PN machinery would continue to work hard to ensure victory.
"For us, winning Nenggiri by-election is important and we hope the percentage of people who come out to cast their votes is higher this time.
"Parents should call their children who live outside Kelantan to return on Aug 17 polling day," he added.
The Nenggiri by-election is seeing a straight fight between PN's Mohd Rizwadi Ismail and BN's Mohd Azmawi Fikri.
The Nenggiri by-election was called after Kelantan Speaker, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, declared the seat vacant. It was previously held by Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who is also Gua Musang MP.
In the Kelantan state election held in August last year, Mohd Azizi won Nenggiri with a narrow majority of 810 votes in a straight fight against a BN candidate.
