KUANTAN: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has urged the authorities to take action against Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for touching on 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues during the Nenggiri state seat by-election campaign.
The Pahang Menteri Besar said he was upset by Muhyiddin's speech which seemed impolite towards the authority of the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when serving as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"I am upset and offended by Muhyiddin's speech while campaigning in Nenggiri which rudely interferes with the authority of the Sultan of Pahang when he served as the King.
"As a former prime minister, Muhyiddin should not drag the palace institution in his political campaign just to secure votes by spreading misinformation to the people about what happened during the 15th general election.
"I believe, the people know and agree with the authority of his Majesty (Al-Sultan Abdullah) who succeeded in putting a stop to the country's political turmoil by forming a unity government, where Pas and Bersatu rejected his decree," he wrote in a Facebook posting today.
Wan Rosdy called on the authorities to take appropriate action against Muhyiddin for purposely creating disharmony by touching on the 3R issues in his campaign so that it will serve as a lesson and reminder to all quarters.
"I hope the people in this country will continue to respect the royal institution which is a symbol of national sovereignty and stability as well as unity and protection for the people," he said.
It is believed that Wan Rosdy was referring to Muhyiddin's campaign speech where he claimed that he had the backing of 115 members of parliament after the last general election in 2022, and that the King should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.
