KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani on his Nenggiri by-election victory yesterday.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, said the victory proved that the people of Kelantan had accepted the unity within the current government coalition.
"Alhamdulillah, congratulations to Mohd Azmawi who represents BN on his victory in the Nenggiri By-election yesterday.
"This victory also reflects the people's trust as they increasingly align themselves with the wave of change under the Madani government.
"This is also in line with the signs of the country's economic growth, which has been flourishing lately," Anwar said in a social media post today.
He said this victory would serve as a morale boost for the Madani government to continue its efforts to safeguard the welfare of the people and elevate the nation's prosperity to the highest level.
In the by-election held yesterday, BN candidate Mohd Azmawi secured 9,091 votes, defeating Perikatan Nasional's Rizwadi Ismail, who received 5,739 votes.
