Umno moots Ulul Albab programme for Quranic education

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will propose government-aided and national religious schools implement the Ulul Albab programme to strengthen Quranic education.

Party president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was also to ensure the continuity of pre-tahfiz programmes introduced in Community Development Department preschools, also known as Tabika Kemas.

"Additionally, we will also propose Mara enhance its educational ecosystem by establishing primary schools," he said in his speech at the Umno General Assembly here, today.

He said this would ensure that talent development is supported by a robust human capital development curriculum.

Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the National Tahfiz Policy 2.0 would be introduced on Sept 14 to streamline tahfiz education and create a conducive environment for producing skilled huffaz or Quran memorisers.

He said this was part of Umno's plans to revitalise future generations, one of the party's five key agendas shaping its new direction.

The other agendas include women empowerment, youth as catalysts for growth, strengthening Bumiputera economic transformation, and digital politics.
