KOTA TINGGI: The cooperation among unity government parties is strong and steady ahead of the upcoming Mahkota by-election on Sept 28, says Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Khaled, who is also the by-election coordinator said coalition party members were coordinating well due to the commitment and cooperation in the unity government.
"We are grateful for the support from the Malay community, Umno members, and the strong backing and commitment from all partners in the unity government," he said at the launch of My Villa in Kota Tinggi today.
When asked about the possibility of maintaining the quota for women's representation in the Mahkota seat, Khaled said, "The decision rests with Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi."
Nomination day is scheduled for Sept 14.
The by-election follows the death of its assemblyman, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.
