KLUANG: A DAP central executive committee member has lodged a report against Perikatan Nasional claiming that the opposition pact continued campaigning during the polling day of the Mahkota state seat by-election.
The 14-day campaigning period for the by-election ended at 11.59pm on Friday.
Sheikh Umar, who is also Johor DAP vice-chairman, said the police report was lodged at the district police headquarters at 3pm today.
He claimed that he received a call from a woman at 8.33am today persuading him to vote for PN candidate for the Mahkota by-election Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.
Sheikh Umar also posted a clip of his conversation with the woman on his Facebook page.
In the two-minute long clip, the caller allegedly tried to persuade him to support PN.
The caller further implied that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim showed favoritism toward certain ethnic groups.
"What I regret most is that the caller continued to campaign for PN even though the campaigning period ended at midnight.
"This is clearly against election regulations," he said when contacted today.
Johor police chief Datuk M.Kumar, when contacted, confirmed to have received a police report on the matter.
He did not elaborate.
