KOTA KINABALU: State Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders have held an unofficial meeting here today to streamline efforts ahead of the Sabah election.
During the meeting, both parties shared aspirations to ensure that the foundations of cooperation would benefit the people and the state.
"To that end, both parties agreed to create a channel of communication to streamline joint efforts, including being open to forming relationships with other parties as preparation for the upcoming state election.
"Both sides also agreed that any form of understanding for moving forward would be decided through discussions and the consensus of the top leadership of both parties," said a statement issued here today.
Among those present at the meeting were BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin, Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Arthur Kurup, Sabah Amanah chief Lahirul Latigu and Sabah MIC chief
Peer Muhmad Kadir.
Also present were Sabah DAP vice chairman Jannie Lasimbang and Upko deputy president Datuk Donald Mojuntin.
Previously, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had announced that both the BN and PH coalitions have finalised their cooperation for the upcoming state election.
Upko and Sabah PH leaders, however, denied such discussions took place.
At the same time, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had previously insisted that the GRS-PH plus cooperation is a good formula for governance in Sabah.
Yesterday, Hajiji said a committee chaired by Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun would look into seat negotiations among all parties in the coalition ahead of the state polls.
