KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has postponed its 2024 party convention, originally scheduled for Dec 28 and 29, due to the ongoing flood crisis.
Its secretary-general, Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, in a statement, said the decision was made in light of the severe flooding across the country and weather forecasts predicting continued heavy rain in the coming days.
"The party's women, youth, women youth wings conventions, initially set for Dec 27, will also be rescheduled.
"The national convention will now take place on Jan 25 and 26 next year at the KSL Esplanade Hotel in Klang, Selangor, with the wing conventions set for Jan 24 at the same venue."
Faiz also urged Amanah members and machinery at all levels to prioritise flood relief operations, particularly post-disaster recovery efforts in affected areas, as part of the party's commitment to the "Rahmah Agenda."
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our leaders, delegates, members, and supporters, as well as all parties affected by this postponement."
