Seremban needs a new hospital

LETTERS: Recently, my wife was admitted for two nights to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban for a minor medical procedure.

The doctors, nurses and other medical officers deserve praise for making her stay pleasant.

We are indebted to the hospital for its superb services, despite the excessive number of patients and shortage of medical staff and amenities.

However, there was a lot of maintenance work going on. Lights and ceilings were replaced.

Though the ward is clean and the floors and glass windows are sparkling, the ceiling has seen better days. The private cleaning agency is doing a fantastic job but more needs to be done.

Everything looks spick and span, but the corners, lights and fans need to be cleaned periodically.

My wife is a retired government servant entitled to a first-class ward but was placed in the general ward.

At the general ward, she had male and female patients. Each patient had a ceiling fan and each had a curtain cover for privacy.

Being a light sleeper, she had sleepless nights at the general ward. Due to a lack of space, beds were placed close to each other.

Parking at the hospital was a problem. I had to park far away and walk up the hill or take a shuttle.

In the afternoons, the car park is full.

Despite its age, the hospital is serving and surviving the test of time, but we need a new hospital in Seremban.
