Hold events at Paroi stadium, not in town centre

LETTER: The Seremban Town Padang, opposite the Seremban City Council building, is a favourite venue for events such as jogathons, marathons, walkathons, state dinners, expositions and other large gatherings.

The Padang is flanked by two major one-way roads that cross through Seremban. Whenever major events are held at the Padang, the road between the City Council and Padang, as well other streets, are closed, and road diversions are the order of the day.

That will usually lead to traffic congestion.

While the people are notified of road closures before an event is held, the resulting traffic jams are still bothersome.

On the day of the event, there will be a massive crowd at the Padang, and they will haphazardly park their

vehicles, adding to the bad traffic.

Instead of holding events and functions at the Seremban Padang, organisers should consider the underused Paroi stadium.

The stadium is huge and there is ample parking space.

Feeder buses can be provided to shuttle people free of charge from the city centre to Paroi stadium throughout the day at regular intervals. This arrangement would be better organised, and there would not be road closures and traffic jams.
