KUALA LUMPUR: National women's doubles shuttler Vivian Hoo does not want to jinx her chances of winning her first title this season after reaching the final of the Macau Open on Saturday.
The 28-year-old together with her partner Yap Cheng Wen reached their maiden BWF World Tour Super 300 final, after recording a 21-16, 21-17 upset over fourth seeds Nami Matsuyama-Chihary Shida of Japan in the last four.
When contacted, Vivian said: "We held on really well. My partner (Cheng Wen) was superb.
"This win has definitely boosted our confidence ahead of the final.
"However, we have got nothing to lose. There is no pressure, we just want to give our best and play good badminton."
Vivian has not had the best of seasons after her former partner, Woon Khe Wei was sidelined with a long term injury.
Since the start of the year, Vivian has had six partners in Khe Wei, Cheng Wen, Goh Yea Ching, Tee Jing Yi, Chow Mei Kuan and Soong Fie Cho.
The Malaysian pair will play the winner of the match between Japan’s Misato Aratama-Akane Watanabe and Indonesia’s Yulfira Barkah-Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto for the title.
Meanwhile, Vivian's younger brother, Hoo Pang Ron failed to follow in his sister's footstep when he and partner, Cheah Yee See crashed out in the semi-finals after losing 21-16, 19-21, 21-11 to top seeds Tang Chun Man-Yse Ying Suet of Hong Kong.
Chun Man-Ying Suet, will play their teammates, Reginald Lee-Chou Hoi Wah in the final on Sunday.
