THE BA of Malaysia (BAM) will make sure that social distancing protocols are strictly followed when the first batch of shuttlers return to training for the first time since March at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara.
The national body hope the trainees will be allowed by the government to return to camp by June 1.
BAM coaching director Wong Choong Hann said those under the Road to Tokyo programme will report first, followed by the rest.
The first batch of players comprise World No 10 Lee Zii Jia, Cheam June Wei (men's singles), Soniia Cheah and S. Kisona or Goh Jin Wei (women's single), Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani (men's doubles), Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean, Vivian Hoo-Yap Cheng Wen (women's doubles), Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles).
"We have a standard operating procedure (SOP) in place for these players.
"In total, ABM has 18 courts, and players will be separated into groups for each session.
"Each session will comprise only two singles players or two pairs," said Choong Hann yesterday.
Choong Hann added that national women's singles coach Tey Seu Bock will decide soon whether to call up Sea Games champion Kisona or former world junior champion Jin Wei first for training.
BAM will also invite several independent players for joint training sessions with the national shuttlers from June 15 ahead of the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup Finals in Denmark on Oct 3-11.
