KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah are just one match away from making history after reaching the Super 750 French Open final today.
In the semi-finals at the Stade Pierre de Coubertine in Paris, the world No 11 women's doubles pair made easy work of South Korea's scratch combination Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee with a 21-13, 21-17 win.
Pearly-Thinaah are only the second Malaysian women's duo to reach the French Open final since the tournament's inception in 1908.
The first was Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui, who finished runners-up at the 2008 edition.
Pearly-Thinaah, whose last World Tour title was the 2021 Swiss Open, will play fourth seeds Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara of Japan for the crown.
The Japanese world No 7 defeated compatriots Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-14, 25-23 in the other semi-final.
