Tang Jie-Ee Wei have different priority

MULHEIM: It will be an honour to represent Malaysia at the Sudirman Cup in May, but that's not the priority for mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

On Tuesday, the world No 43 checked into the German Open second round in Mulheim after beating national teammates Hoo Pang Ron-Teoh Mei Xing 21-12, 20-22, 21-15.

After they were first paired up in December last year, Tang Jie-Ee Wei are more interested in improving their world ranking before the start of the one-year Olympic qualifiers in May.

Ee Wei said: "For the Sudirman Cup, I think we'll let the coach decide for us. If we do get a chance to play, we will be ready.

"Right now, all we want to do is improve our world ranking, everything else will follow.

"Tang Jie and I were paired up not long ago, but we're doing all right because our ranking has been moving up fast."

Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who won the Bangladesh and Iran International Challenges from three finals this season, will be making their All England debut in Birmingham next week.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will play either sixth seeds, Seo Seung Jae-Chae Yu Jung of South Korea or Irish qualifiers, Joshua Magee-Moya Rayan today for a place in the last eight.
